Seniors are helped by instructional videos and free courses for the best use of digital tools
On the third weekend of January, members of Ér Hangja Association met with representatives of Békéscsaba’s Premier Vocational Art High School and Elementary Art School, – their partners during the project – in Gyula, Hungary, in order to discuss the details of the Click it until you make it!, their winning KA210-ADU-1A1F806E code Erasmus+ project. The meeting’s aim was to plan a free training among older people for developing digital skills and to distribute between the organizers the tasks related to the production of the instructional videos.
As we have previously reported, the Click it until you make it! project – keeping in mind the importance of adult education – will involve retirees over the age of 55 who find it important to acquire new knowledge that will help them cope with the challenges of rapidly evolving digital technologies. During the four-month free training, members of the two organizations will create twenty interactive instructional videos containing information and guidance aimed at developing digital skills.
During the current meeting, alongside the introductions of the partner organizations, the first concrete steps were taken regarding the creation of the instructional videos. Common goals were formulated successfully, and taking into account the partners’ previous experiences and competencies, tasks related to the production of the videos were distributed. During the workshop, they collectively compiled a list of topics to be covered in the instructional videos. This digital content will be user-friendly and easily understandable. They keep in mind that during the training, the seniors should acquire useful and applicable knowledge, mainly related to practical methods of using smartphones, the internet, email, as well as fast communication methods (Facebook, WhatsApp, Messenger, etc.).
The participants collectively identified and discussed potential future issues, as well as the methodology of the project, and also determined the schedule of tasks. As a result, at the end of the activity, a joint action plan was prepared for the implementation of the project, which both partners will follow in the upcoming months. As both elderly individuals from Săcueni and Gyula will participate in the training and workshops starting at the beginning of summer, representatives of the partner organizations thought it would be useful to take the first steps in assessing the situation of the elderly there. For this purpose, they met with the leaders of the local retirement clubs, where they managed to gather useful information regarding the target group for the free course.
Throughout the entire weekend meeting, alongside work, there was also time for the delegation from Săcueni to visit the Békés County Library and explore various attractions of Békéscsaba and Gyula. The current project meeting holds great significance not only for the successful implementation of the grant but also for strengthening the partnership between the two organizations and establishing new collaborative relationships in the future. This strategic project is implemented with the funding of the Erasmus+ KA210-ADU – Small-scale partnerships in adult education program. Detailed information regarding registration for the course will be provided in the near future.
